Wife Beater Fined In Mayor’s Court,

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil T. Handley, who were married in Kankakee, 111., June 20.

Dan Milbrandt Pays S4O On Assault and Battery Count At Hearing Tuesday Dan Milbrandt, farmer residing northeast of Wheatfield, went into Mayor Bahler’s court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and battery preferred by his wife, Susan. He was fined S4O and costs. ' Milbrandt was arrested early Sunday morning by Sheriff Webb who was called to the Milbrandt home. Mrs. Milbrandt told the authorities her husband beat her with his fists. She was taken to Jasper county hospital to receive treatment for a broken nose and other injuries.
