IFMA To Conduct Farm Tour Aug. 4
Tour Will Be Held In Connection With Ag Conference At Purdue The Indiana Farm Management Association will conduct its annual Farm Tour on Wednesday, August 4, it was announced by J. A. Carroll, county agricultural agent today. This tour will be held in connection with the Agricultural Conference to be held at Purdue University August 3, 4 and 5. Efficient farm organization around specific enterprises will be featured on the annual tour. The first stop will be at the John McCormick farm in Carroll County on State Road no. 39 about midway between Delphi and Rossville, turing a nationally know speaker
On this 190 acre farm, Mr. McCormick’s hogs will farrow 100 litters of pigs this year. Buildings, fields, water, and feed have all been geared to this highly intensive enterprise. From the McCormick farm the tour will go to the fair grounds at Boswell in Benton County where arrangements have been made to serve a fried chicken dinner at noon. A program, feawill follow.
After the noon lunch and program. the tour will move to‘the John Leuck farm, west of Boswell on State Road No. 352. This 452 acre grain farm has been organized to maintain a high fertility level. Much of the grain produced is marketed as certified seed. Several hundred farmers from over the state are expected to attend the tour to study farm management methods being employed by these two farms.
