4-H Club News

Gillam Girls The Gillam Girls 4-H club met June 12 at the Gillam School yyith 18 members and 4 visitors present. Our meeting was brought to order by our president. Roll call was answered by favorite name. Demonstrations were given by JoAnne Rockwell, Roberta Houston, Shirley Schulz, and Patty Hilton. We judged some canning and baking while refreshments were getting in order, tvhich was very delicious. The next meeting will be at the School house July 12 at 2:00 DST. Gillam Boys The Gillam Boys club met on June 21 at the home Bob Odom with 9 members and 2 visitors present. The meeting opened by repeating the 4-H pledge. A discussion was held on record books. Keith Nelson gave a demonstration on rabbit raising. He used one of his -white rabbits to demonstrate the correct handling. After the business meeting games were played. Delicious refreshments of ice cream, cake and coke were served. All the boys Wish to thank Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Odom for the hospitality. The next meeting will be held at the Gillam School house on July 19. Kathryn and Frances DaughSouth Barkley Modern Priscilla erty entertained fourteen Modern Priscilla’s and eight guests at thefr home, June 23. Pat Hite called the meeting to order; Helen Kupke gave the secretary’s report. All responded to roll call by telling the percent of project work crffrtoleted. The care project was \ further discussed. Plans were made for demonstrations to be given in the county contest. A local judging elimination contest was directed by Miss Patterson. Frances Daugherty gave a piano selection “Alpine ■Weeding ; Festival.” Helen Kupke and Barbara McFadden danced to "~’*the tune of “Put Your Little Foot” which was played by Frances Daugherty. Refreshments of angel food cake, ice cream, and beverage were served by the hostesses. Dandy Hand Club The Dandy Hand Club met on June 24 at the home of Wilma Alexandef'with 13 members and 4 visitors present. The Dandy Hand meeting was brought to order by our president. Our club decided to have a local judging at the Parr School, July 1 and also a weiner roast at the home of Dorcas Peoples. The demonstrations of “How to Baste a Seam" by Alexander and How to Measure Liquid Ingredients was given by Loretta Meyers. The next meeting will be held at the home of Janice Walthers, July 8, 1948. Illarion Boosters The Marion Boosters held their third meeting June 28 at the Marion School house. Paul Zimmer lead a discussion on the requirements for entering the State Fair. Roll call was answered by 23 members. Chet Corbin gave a talk on the trip to Camp Tecumseh. Frank Zimmer gave a report on the Purdue Round-up. Duane Houston lead the club in Home Oft the Range. Bud Daugherty, took charge of recreation and played some games. The president adjourned the meeting. Refresh-ments-were served by Msrs. Logan Houston.
