V. E. Peregrine, Prominent Tefft Citizen, Dies
Passes Away at Chicago Memorial Hospital Following Cerebral Hemorrhage; Rites Saturday Victor E. Peregrine, lifetime resident of Tefft, died at Chicago Memorial hospital at 8:45 o’clock Wednesday night. He entered the hospital three weeks ago following a cerebral hemorrhage attack. He was 51. Mr. Peregrine -was a member of a widely known and highly respected northern Jasper county family and a man who was greatly admired by his many associates in Jasper and nearby counties. News of his untimely death came as a great shock to the many whose privilege it had been to have his friendship. Mr. Peregrine was Lorn in Tefft February 2, 1897, the son of Charles and Della (Gillespie) Peregrine. He was educated in the schools of his home community and on June 30, 1917, he was united in marriage with Amanda Albin of Tefft. The ceremony was performed in Rensselaer. Surviving are the widow and five children, Merle, Phyllis, Shirley, Victor, jr., and Judy, all of Tefft; three brothers, Don of Hamlet and Wade and Charles Vaughn Peregrine, both of Tefft, and three grandchildren. One son, Cecil, was killed in action in the European theatre in World War 11. Funeral services will be conducted from Tefft Methodist church at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Earl Moore officiating. The Masonic order of which the deceased was a member will assist with the services both at the church and cemetery. Interment will be at San Pierre cemetery. The remains are at Todd’s Funeral Home in DeMotte.
