Plan Recreation Program Here This Summer

This community will have two soft ball leagues this summer—the church league, consisting of four teams, sponsored by the churchs and a community league of four teams sponsored by the Boy Scouts, Lion’s Club, American Legion and the Fire Department. This does not mean that the players on these teams must be members of these organizations but will be chosen to play on one of the teams. 0. P. Rowen was appointed by tfce recreation board and team sponsors as general supervisor of the program. Hairy Gilmore, school janitor has been hired to keep the diamond in condition, take care of the lights and other equipment. Since DeMotte does not have a community recreation director, only through the co-operation of all the people interested in soft ball and other summer sports can there be a successful sports program. Soft ball is not the only possible sport or recreation. There is also a chance of playing tennis, horse shoe and other summer sports on the recreation field. The schedule is as follows: June 8 Lions Club vs American Legion, Ist game; Methodist vs First Reformed, 2nd game. June 15 Christian Reformed vs American Reformed, Fire Department vs Boy Scouts. June 22 Lion Club vs Fire Department; Methodist vs American Reformed. ' June 29 American Legion vs Boy Scouts; Christian Reformed vs First Reformed. July 6 American Reformed J vs First Reformed; Lions Club vs Boy Scouts. July 13 Christian Reformed vs Methodist; American Legion vs Fire Department. Besides the eight leagtie teams there will be an All Star team which will play of town teams for the benefit of the many soft ball fans of the community. The All Star games will be held on Friday evenings while the League games are scheduled for Tuesday evenings, to begin at 8 “‘o’clock DST. —“
