4-H Club News
Tefft Fellow Workers The Tefft Fellow Workers 4-H Club met May 24 at the home of Lon Cesal with 14 members present. A discussion was held on raising of dairy calves. The next meeting will be held on June 7 at the home of Buddy Peregrine. Challengers The second meeting of the Challengers’ 4-H club was held at the DeMotte High School on May 28. Thirteen members, were present. The roll call was answered by giving a favorite food. Bill Unzicker, president, explained parliamentary procedure to the club. Russell Hunter, a junior leader, explained how to fill out a record book. The club voted to correspond with a 4-H club in Germany, if any other club in the county wish to carry opt this project. The meeting was then adjourned for a short period of recreation. The next meeting will be held June 16 at the home of Lawrence Carter. Keener First The Keener First 4-H club held a meeting on May 26 at the DeMotte School with 25 members present.*’ The meeting was called to older by the president, Ruth Cheever. Roll call was then taken. It was answered by giving the color of the members eyes. The
new business for the meeting was a discussion about the exhibit. The members chose to go to the Judging School were notified. The girls chosen to judge are Eleanor Klip, Janet Hammerton, Carol Hart, Ruth Cheever, and Joyce Arens. After playing a few games, the meeting was adjourned. The Dandy Hand 4-H club held its meeting at Phyllis Phares home on May 27. Phyllis Phares demonstrated on how to make a plain butter cake. The club held a discussion on when to have its meeting scheduled for June 10 because of the Judging and Demonstration school in Rensselaer. The meeting will be held on June 3 at the home of Nancy Peoples. Dandy Hand Mrs. Margaret Rowen and daughters moved to Cincinnati, Ohio Monday, where they will reside with Mrs. Rowen’s parents. Miss Edna Halleck, Mr. Abe
Halleck and daughter of Chicago visited friends in DeMotte Sunday. Lt. Norman Holladay flew here Saturday and landed at Cheever’s airport, spent the night with his family and flew back to Columbus, Ohio, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Watson and son, David spent the weekend at LeCrosse visiting the Watsons. Mr. and Mrs. John Konovsky and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ramp and sons spent Sunday and Monday at Shafer Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bierma Jr. and children of Chicago spent the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bierma at DeMotte. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Duggins who have both been ill are improved at this time.
