Mrs. Melvin Struble Passes Away

Mrs. Celia Struble, wife of Melvin Struble, died at Porter Memorial hospital in Valparaiso, Saturday morning, January 31. She had been in ill health for several months and previous to being a patient at Valparaiso she was hospitalized in Chicago. The direct cause of her death^ being a brain tumor. Mrs. Struble was born in Shelby, Indiana, May 28, 1890, the daughter of Timothy and Catherine Curtin. She had lived in this township for the past fifty years. She married Melvin Struble June 20, 1920. To this union two children were born, a daughter, who preceded her in death and a son, Maurice of DeMotte. Surviving besides the husband and son, are two sisters, Mrs. Fred Granger of Hammond and Mrs. Carl Richiger of DeMotte, and a brother, I. E. Curtin of DeMotte. She was a sister to the late Charles P. Curtin of here. Mrs. Struble was a member of the Baptist church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 440 of DeMotte. The passing of this beloved lady is a real loss to this community. Her quiet charm, ready smile and friendliness endeared her to all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted from the DeMotte Methodist church at 1:30 Monday afternoon. The riles "were conducted by the Rev. Edward Worley of Lowell, and the Rev. W. D. Archibald. Interment was at Pine Grove cemetery at Lowell. Todd Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
