BROOK TO HOST SECTIONAL AT ST. JOE COURT
Annual Tournament To Be Held February 2 6-28, With Field hou s e As Arena The Jasper-Newton county sectional basketball tournament scheduled for Feb. 26, 27, 28 will be held in the St. Joseph fieldhouse again this year with Brook acting as the host school. Principals of the eleven schools in the sectional met early in the winter to discuss preliminary plans and agreed at that time on the fieldhouse as the best place to hold the tournament. For the past few years Rensselaer and Morocco have taken turns as the host school. Rensselaer acting as host last year agreed to hold the tournament at the fieldhouse in order to accommodate the large number . of fans who had indicated a de- j sire to attend. Comments from! fans were favorable to a continuation of the use of the St. Joseph facilities with the result that the eleven schools voted unanimously to hold the tournament there again. Sectional tournaments are awarded by the I.H.S.A.A. on a basis of invitation. If only one school invites the tournament then they are likely to receive it. The Principals agreed this year to arrange the names of the competing school in alphabetical order and that each would submit an invitation for the tournament according to position on the list. Since Brook was first on the list this will be their year to act as host. This plan is agreeable to the Indiana High School Athletic Association!) providing the principals agree unanimously. Otherwise the decision of awarding the tournament rests with the State Athletic Association of Indianapolis. The method of allocating tournament tickets to par tic ip at ing schools is prescribed by the I.H.S. A.A. After complimentary tickets are deducted from the total, 10 percent of the remaining tickets are divided pro rata. The remaining ninety percent are t#n divided on the basis of enrollment of the competing schools. Under this plan Rensselaer will receive approximately , the same number of tickets as last year.—(-About 400)plimentary tickets are deducted 1 will be distributed to fans on the Rensselaer’s share after com- ■ Third, if the remaining tickets are more than the' applications from season ticket holders, all' of these applications will be filled, if the remaining tickets (from 1 , and 2) are less than the number of applications from season ticket holders they will be awarded by lot to those season ticket holders who apply.
