DECEMBER SET INDIANA MARK FDR BUSINESS
Holiday Month Produced Greatest Trade Wave In History of State; Xmas Buying* Up 15 Pet. Bloomington, Ind., Jan. 26 —• Indiana business in December established a new all-time record, it was reported today by the Indiana university bureau of business research. According to the Bureau’s monthly publication, the Indiana business review, both industrial and farm income expanded materially during December. Christmas buying was 15 per cent higher than a year ago. The review stated that much of the increase in December was the product of higher money values; higher retail, wholesale and farm prices; higher farm income; and higher pay rolls because of overtime and wage increases. The University business publication reported newspaper advertising lineage as the best on record for the 14 metropolitan centers. Bank debits were considerably larger than in November,, not quit! so largo as the record volume of October. Perliminary figures indicate that there was little change in the valurne of new construction in December as compared with the preceding month. December coal production was slightly higher than in November. Facts beyond the control of the industry, however, prevented the output from making a new record for the month. The near capacity level of electricity ' production held for the past five continued while steel production was seasonally the best since the war years-
