Strong Rural Group Backs March of Dimes
March of the Dimes Crusade Is Scheduled To Begin in County January 15 Mrs. Carl Fritts has been appointed Keener township Director for March of Dimes crusade which is scheduled to begin in this county next Monday, January 15th, and continue until the 30th. One half of all funds received in the March of Dimes is retained by your county chapter for direct aid to local polio victims. The remainder goes to the National Foundation for research and professional education, and to form a national reserve fund from which your county, or any other, may draw if the fight against polio exhausts local funds. Polio epidemics of 1947 have marked the fifth successive year of more than usual polio incidence. Under the Rural Directorship of Carlyle DeLaCroix the following Townships will be ably handled by his Directors when the March of Dimes gets under way. Barkley Twp., James Britt of R. G, Rensselaer. Carpenter, Twp., Harold Buddie, Remington. Carpenter Twp., Harold Budde, Remington. Gillam Tp., Edward Ramey, R. 2, Francesville. Jordan Twp., Paul Laird, R. 3, Rensselaer. Kankakee, Twp., Ray Jamieiion, Wheatfield. Keener Twp., Mrs. Carl Fritts, DeMotte. Marion Twp., Earl Hensler, R. 4, Rensselaer. Newton Twp., Earl Miller, R. 3, Rensselaer. Union Twp., Robert Cover, FairOaks. Walker, Wheatfield Twp., Pete Seegers, R. 1, Wheatfield. Beginning January 15th and lasting until the 30th every effort will be made to obtain funds to carry Jasper County through the year 1948 and provide help where needed to any victim of Infantile ParsJysis. Lets call it March of Dollars. One half of all collections will be spent by the National Foundation to promotejts search through the best laboratories in the country. It is hoped that the results of extensive research will enable them to find the germ that causes this terrible affliction and to isolate it so that further study will enable them to establish a virus that will' make all children and adults immune from its attack. ——■*- —Phil Wood, —— County Campaign Director.
