WHEATFIELD CATTLE BRING $40 HUNDERWEIGHT
Chicago, Jan. 7 Some In-diana-fattened cattle brought one of the day’s top prices in the Chicago livestock market today when C. W. Bagnell, of Wheatfield, Jasper county, sold a carload of cattle, consisting of 13 , fattened Aberdoen-Angus steers, for $40.00 per hundredweight. Market officials stated this represented one of the all-time high prices paid for prime cattle at the Chicago yards. The record price was set today with $41.25 per hundredweight going to a shipment of Illinois steers. Averaging 1153 pounds, the steers brought Bagnell $461.00 per head or $5,993 for the shipment. An Eastern buyer made the purchase, it was reported.
