BIBLE READERS PUSH SCHEDULE

Covington, Jan. 3 A Bible reading marathon passed the halfway mark today and its sponsors said they were “elated” over the success of the project. Although they lagged at the start, readers were now well ahead of schedule, said the Rev. Kenneth Powell. They were already into the 62nd Psalm and figured they were 20 chapters past the center of the hook. The marathon, which began at midnight as the New Year started, was attracting far more attention than they had “dared to hope,” said directors of the event. Despite heavy snows covering the area attendance has averaged

from 25 to 55 persons at all times, they said. On New' Year’s eve the community room in the court house was crowded with 300 persons. Readers were changed every half-hour with hardly a break in the continuity. Two Bibles are being used and a relief reader stands by ready to take up the task the second another stops.
