Mr. and Mrs. Harry Huhn and sons, Wayne and Elliott spent Christmas afternoon witlf their sons, Robert and family of Kersey and Walter and family of Wheatfield. Local people celebrating birthdays Sunday were Mona, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Hunter, Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Mrs. Fred Zeck. The Paul Stangles received a long distance call Dec. 24th from the three travelers, Dick Evans, Sam Kingma, and Gerrit Van Keppel. They were somewhere in Arizona and wanted the address of Mr. and Mrs. John Hannenburg and family who live in Phoenix. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coffer and family spent Christmas day and evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Huhn and sons. Mr. and Mrs. A 1 Ewart and daughters spent Monday evening with the Marvin Bernards in Hobart. They are former residents of DeMotte. Mrs. Bernard taught in the school here. Mr. and Mrs. John Felthouse and Mr. and Mrs. Otto DeYoung Jr., and children spent Sunday in Chicago visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Felthouse in their new home. The W.S.C.S. of the Methodist church will hold their first meeting of 1948, January Bth. New officers will be installed at church Sunday morning. Miss Kate Anderson left Sunday for Trenton, New Jersey where she is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Arie Dahni have moved into their new home in the Southeast part of town. Wilburn White is home from an army camp in Alabama for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Jager and son of South Bend spent the holiday with relatives. Mrs. Jager is the former Jennie Woudema. The senior class of DeMotte high school spent Saturday in Chicago. In the evening they saw
Sonja Heinie in The Ice Follies. Rev. J. J. Moor preached for Rev. Archibald Sunday. Rev. Archibald has laryngitis. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Watson spent Christmas eve with her mother, Mrs. C. P. Curtin and her brother and family the G. F. Curtins. Helen and Marshall won the first prize for their Christmas decorated house in the contest conducted by the town of LaCrosse. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kessinger entertained Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Pierson of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs.. Paul Swing of Rensselaer and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stevens Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. John Hfssion and Carol Jo left Wednesday for Shoal, Ind., to spend a few days with Mr. Hission’s father and sister. Curtis and Boh Heimlich are home from Cleveland for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Henrichs and sons of Kniman, Mrs. H. J. Henrichs of DeMotte, and Miss Catherine Hoehn of Wheatfield had Christmas dinner with U. H. Henrichs and family. Miss Vivian Stalbaum and girl friend, Miss Hansen spent the holiday with the former’s pai*ents near Boone Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cheever of Linton, Ind., were dn town Monday. Christmas day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Todd
were Mrs. Todd’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kingma of San Pierre, Mr. Todd’s father, Mr. Roy Todd, his uncle, Mr. Louis Todd and Miss Lucille Lamborn of Grass Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stangle visited the Misses Ola and Minnie Turnipseed at Idaville and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cook at Logansport, Christmas.
