GUNMAN, SANS GUN, GIVEN A GOING OVER

Grover Allen of Medaryville, attempted to hold up the Wm, Swart grocery store shortly before closing time Friday, December 2(5. He entered the store and told one of the clerks he wanted to see the manager. When Mr. Swart came forward he commanded all to put up their hands saying, “This is a hold up.” He had his right hand inside the top part of his coat as if concealing a gun. He threatened, cursed and finally tried kicking Mr. Swart. About that time Pete Bass, one of the store employees saw a chance to get at Allen, knocked him down and loosend a few of his front teeth. Searching him it was found he did not have a gun. Deputy Sheriff Ivan Cheever was called and he summoned Sheriff Wm. Webb who took Allen to the county jail. Saturday morning he was brought justice of the peace Bierma in Wheatfield, charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He pled guilty and paid a fine arid costs which totaled $44.00.
