FRAUDULENT CHECK PASSING ADMITTED

Richmond, Dec. 30 Ulysses Gerald Rees admitted to police today that he passed bad checks in 15 Indiana towns on a preChristmas buying splurge. The 30-year-old ex-convict, told Sheriff Carl Sperling that he wrote worthless checks in amounts from $45 to $75 in most places. WAR MOTHER DIES

Kokomo, Dec. 30 Last rites will be held Wednesday at Kokomo for Mrs. Clara Maddox, 55, who was chosen as the state’s outstanding war mother in 1945.

Warsaw, Dec. 29 A military tribunal in Rzeszov, south-eastern Poland, sentenced one defendant to death and seven others to four to 15 years in prison today for spying on behalf of foreign powers and for other anti-government activities.
