FIND 1 PCT. INFECTION IN COUNTY HERDS
Report Submitted By Cattle Testers On Tuberculin Survey In Jasper County Only one per cent of Jasper county cattle here show tuberculosis infection, a report submitted to local officials by the state department of agriculture reveals. The report follows testings made by four accredited testers in Jasper county from April 21. The cost of the inspection was $1,653.68. The number of herds tested *wgs 566 and cattle examined numlß ered 6,081. Only nine reactors were found during the survey. The percentage of infection was only one per cent. Jasper county has 2,202 herds and 24,222 cattle (estimated). Tests were made of approximately 21 per cent of the' herds, and 25 per cent of the. cattle. Reactors discovered were as follows: Barkley, 1; Carpenter, 2; Jordan, 1; Keener, 5. The percentage of infection in those townships were: Barkley, .001; Carpenter, .0001; Jordan, .002; Keener. .009. Leading cattle centers in the county are; Carpenter, 921; Barkley, 688; Keener, 602; Jordan, 591.
