Mr. . and Mrs. Richai*d Rice entertained last Saturday evening in honor of his mother’s birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Rice, daughters Jeanette, Sylvia and Nahcy; Mrs. James Ward of Hammond; Mr. Donald N.iiss of W’heatfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rice. Mrs. Bert Filson spent Thursday in Chicago shopping. Billy Michael has completed the semester in Rensselaer and now has entered the Wheatfield high school. A shower, was given at the school house on Friday evening by Mi 1 , and Mrs. Lowell Dionne in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Odle. The evening was spent in danc-

ing and music furnished by an orchestra from Gary. . Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Delber Fischer, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sthulmacker and family of Leßoy; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hurst anxl* son of Chicago; Mrs. Jes Stowell anxl daughter and Doren Spitler of Thayer; Etta Mae Stowell of Shelby; Mrs. Delbert Mathews and family of Mt. Ayr; Mr. Walker Dionne and family, Mr. anxl Mrs. Alphonse Rean of St. Anne, 111., Mrs. Mary Comer and .Mrs. Etta Keek and family of Palmer. Ice cream and cake were served.
