JORDAN MAN TAKES THIRD TITLE IN ROW
Gains Permanent Posession of King’s Trophy, Setting Record For Event Carl Nesius of Jordan township set an all-time record for the Jasper county corn show Wednesday when his ten-ear entry was adjudged to be the best of the show. It was the third successive victory for Nesius, and bv virtue of his winning achievement he gained permanent possession of the cup emblematic of the Jasper county corn-growing championship. Until this year there were two —Henry Wortley and Ted Am-sler—-who had won twice in a row. They were competitors again this year, and in the threeway scramble any one of the trio was in a position to collect the trophy permanently. But it was Nesius who came off the winner. To be crowned as Crown Prince tonight is Art Lehe, jr., of Carpenter township whose ten-ear sample was adjudged the class of the vocational show. The champs will be crowned at the annual corn banquet at the Methodist church this evening, with Bill Renshaw, Flying Editor of Prairie Farmer, setting the crowns in place. The show this year aproached the all-times tops for the event. The number of entries stands high among the top years. The quality of the exhibits matches any that has ever been presented. Pay Bundy, supervisor of the show, is highly pleased with the 1946 renewal and now with the war years behind, he believes the corn show will reach even greater heights in the years to come. Prof. Mulvey of Purdue and John F. Trost, corn breeder of Oxford, stated this is one of the finest shows they ever judged.
