Mrs. Floyd Allyn was hostess to the Jolly club on Tuesday afternoon. Eight members were present and one guest, Mrs. Clarence Stowers. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Robert Kiersema, Mrs. Dale Wynkoop, Mrs. Simon Groet and Mrs. Nathaniel Peterson. Mrs. Bert Filson will entertain the club in her home Friday afternoon, December 10. A 50c gift exchange will be held. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Dionne and daughter, Edith, spent Thanksgiving with her sister, Mrs. Carl Allen. Forty-three guests were present. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rice and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rice and son, Dicky, spent Thanksgiving with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Rice. Donald Nuss of Wheatfield was a visitor in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Current and son, Leo, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker at Thayer on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jes Stowell of Thayer accompanied by their daughters, Mrs. Ellsworth Clem, and Mrs. Lowell Dionne, left ,for Kansas this morning'. Miss Jane Allyn was home Monday on her way to Hammond to work in the Hammond Beauty shop. The Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church will hold its December meeting Friday, Dec. 3. A pot luck dinner will be served at noon and a gift exchange, maximum price under fifty cents. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Filson, Mr. and Mrs. John Terpstra, attended the Stock Show in Chicago Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner and family spent Sunday evening at the home of Henry Molenaar.

Mr. and Mrs. Jes Stowell and June Doren Spitler, of Thayer, Etta Mae Stowell and Phillip, of Shelby, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sthulmacker and family of Leßoy and Hershel Odle were present at a birthday celebration of Dolores Dionne, on Thanksgiving. Frank Gettinger spent Friday in Highland visiting at the home of a cousin, Hal Gettinger. A pleasant surprise was held at the home of Mrs. John M. Middelkamp, in honor of her birthday, on Saturday evening. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prentiss, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Strong of Crown Point, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Busselburg, Mr .and Mrs. John Harn, of Valparaiso, Mr. and Mrs. William Groet and family of Hammond, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Holbrook and family of Wheatfield, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Middelkamp, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wynkoop, and Mrs. Nathaniel Peterson. Bunco was played during the evening with prizes awarded to Mrs. Harry Busselburg, Ellen Peterson, Mrs. Dale Wynkoop, Robert Prentiss and William Holbrook. Lunch consisted of sandwiches, pickles, coffee and a beautifully decorated cake. Mrs. Middelkamp received many gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sherman and daughter, Marilyn, Mrs. Lee Milt, Evelyn and Roberta Filson and Lincoln Metcalf of Chicago,

visited over Thanksgiving with the Bert Filsons. Things are not always what they seem. Always dodging the frisky steer, “Sam,” one of the school bus drivers suffered a broken rib resulting from an altercation with “Peaches,” the darling of the barn yard.
