MRS. F. M. HART, NORTH COUNTY PIONEER, DIES
Widow of Banker, Farmer, Community Leader, Dies At Age of 80 ■■■'■■'l. Mrs. Hattie C. Hart, widow of Frank* M. Hart, sr., and for sixtyfive years a resident of ,te community, passed away at her residence here at six o’clock Wednesday evening. The death of the widely known and highly esteemed lady followed a threeweek illness resulting from senility. Mrs. Hart was eighty years of age and had been in gradual decline for several months. The death of this aged lady marked the passing of a pioneer in northern Jasper county life and one who had been prominent in the afairs in the upbuilding of DeMotte community. Her late husband was one of the outstanding citizens of DeMotte as a banker and farmer and general contributor <to the advancement of the community’s trade, church and social life. Mrs.' Hart was born in Lake Village November 12, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson. She was married to Frank M. Hart, sr., in DeMotte April 3, * 1883. He passed away November 7, 1938. A member of the Methodist church, Mrs. Hart was active in the church, welfare and social life of the community until her advanced years. Surviving are the -following children; Mrs. Maggie S. Fairchild of DeMotte, Mrs. Edna Pearl FaiTcfrild of Chicago, Mrs. Effie B. Spencer of DeMotte, Mrs. Blanche Murray of Gary and Frank M. Hart, jr., of Dade City, Florida; also a sister, Mrs. Anna Eldred of Blanchard, Mich., eight grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Hart was one of DeMotte’s most highly esteemed and best known ladies. Through her many years of residence in northern Jasper county she became outstanding in shaping the improvement of community* life. She was generally beloved because of her generosity and the deep interest she displayed in the welfare of her friends and community. She was one of the most admired and highly respected ladies in the history of northern Jasper county and in her passing many homes are sorrowed. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p. m., at the residence, with the Rev. W. D. Archibald in charge. Burial will be in DeMotte cemetery.
