Since onions have a high water content they are low in calories In their raw state onions have fc little vitamin B anC vitamin C. but much vitamin value is lost in cooking and in discarding the water in which the onions are cooked. Raw onions and shallots are better sources of these vitamins and of carotene, which the body changes into vitamin ‘A.
