CORN SHOW PREMIUM LIST IS AVAILABLE
Annual Feature Slated for December 3-5 Is Heavy With Prizes for Contestants Premium lists for the Jasper County Corn Show to be held in Rensselaer at the Armory on December, 3,4, 5, are now available for distribution at the County Agent’s Office, or at the vocational teacher of’the county and grain elevators. Exhibits of corn should be brought to ■ the Armory on Tuesday, December 3 up to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday up tot 9:15 a.m., at which time judging will begin. All exhibits will be judged on a market basis. Shelling percentages and moisture tests will be made on bushel basket exhibits of 50 ears of corn. Moisture test will also be made on shelled corn exhibits. All exhibits of shelled corn should comprise 14 lbs. or. one peck. Judging of exhibits will take place on Wednesday, December 4, with Prof. Nulvey, superintendent of the Purdue University soils and crops farms, and John F. Trost, corn breeding epecialist for the Farm Craft Seed Co., of Oxford. The following classes are open to corn exhibits: Farmers class—so ears; Boys class—so ears;Shelled, 1 peck— Farmers class; Shelled Corn, 1 peck—Boys class, open to high school, vocational students, 4-H club, or rural grade 6th, 7th and Bth grade classes; ten ear class—high school boys, not enrolled in vocational courses; ten ear class—vocational boys, ten ear class—4-H corn club members. 4 * Ten ear class—rural grade boys in 6th, 7th, and Bth grades; single ear class—farmers, Single ear class—high school or rural grade boys. x The 24 trophies to be awarded in this show are on display in Murray’s department store window, numerous cash prizes and ribbons will also be awarded. The corn growers banquet will be held in the Methodist Church on Thursday night, December 5. Tickets are on sale at Long’s Drug Store, the County Agent’s office or may be secured from the vocational ■ teachers of the county or members of the farmer committee and vocational students. Trophies and the ’ 5 acre corn growing contest medals will be awarded Thursday night at the corn banquet. Farm machinery problems will be discussed by Purdue specialists in the Armory on Thursday afternoon, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. under the direction of County J. A. Carroll. Setting up the corn show and placement of exhibits will be in charge of the Rensselaer vocational classes with Wayne Epler as superintendent, George Shide assistant, and Merle Branson, Secretary and Maurice Laird, assistant Secretary.
