Mr. and Mrs. Walley Gilmore of Ohio returned home after a two weeks visit with her brother, Bert Duggins. Miss Bessie Duggins is quite a bit improved from her recent illness. She stays in Kankakee, 111., part of the time. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Duggins have moved to Gary, where they once lived. T-4 Kenneth D. Goetz who has been in the Philippine Islands serving in the U. S. Occupational forces for over a year, arrived home last Sunday evening. He is now on terminal leave and expects to get discharged the first part of November. The Most Reverend John G. Bennett, D. D. Dishop of Lafayette in Indiana will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to approximately fifteen children and adults at Sorrowful Mother Church, Wheatfield, Ind., on Tuesday evening, Oct., 15th, at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. John Anderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hanford and Mr. and Mrs. Einar Anderson spent Wednesday in Aurora, 111., attending the funeral of Mrs. Gudrun Bergmann, who passed away Sunday at the Copley hospital, Aurora. Mrs. Bergmann is a sister of Mrs. John Anderson. Mrs. M. Olson of Birqua, Wisconsin, came back with them and spent the week-end here. Visitors at the Henry Fink farm last week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dettman and Mr. and Mrs. E. Hoffman of Burbank California, Mrs. Aug. Brown from Gary and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown and Mr. and Mrs. H. Krueger from Roselawn. Mrs. Terry Crain is improving in her home from a resent illness. Miss Edith Johnson of Chicago, visited Mr. .and Mrs. .Boezeman Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Olson of Chicago, were Friday afternoon guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bozman. iMss Shirley Hart is employed at the DeMotte State Bank, starting Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. May and children of Remington were week-end guests of Mrs. Beulah Hart and daughters. They attended the Legion Homecoming. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Hanford of ’Thawville, 111., former residents
of DeMotte are the proud parents of a son born Wednesday, Sept. 25. He has been named Norman James. The Sept., meeting of the Home Economics club was held at the home of Mrs. Phil Van Merton with Mrs. Lorraine Gorbet assisting hostess. There were fifteen members and three visitors present. A very interesting talk on short steps of sewing was given by Mrs. Mabie Hunter. Prizes were won by Mrs. C. Story, Mrs. Archibald and Mrs. Grace Cheever. The Oct., meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Mabie Hunter. Mr. and Mrs., Neil Sekema visited Lee Myers, who is in the hospital at Lafayette Sunday. The Senior Class had their pictures taken this past Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Cox and family of Fair Oaks visited Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Barker Sr., family Sunday. Mr. Cox is Mrs. Barkers brother. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Barker of Chicago visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Barker Sr., Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Zeck, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Van Dam, Fred Zeck and Shirley Hart spent Sunday in Chicago. The officers of the Girls League for Service of the Ist reformed and American went to the Danorth Reformed Church on Monday to meet with all- of the pfficers of the Indiana Young Women’s Union. Mrs. Dolfin and Mrs. Steunenberg went ’ along with the officers. Rev. Steunenberg took the group thero. The Dorcas Society of the First Reformed Church will meet Oct., 10, instead of Oct., 3 due to the Ladies Missonary Conference being held at the Immanul Reformed Church of Chicago. Mrs. Dene Grevenstuk has returned to her home from the Rensselaer hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bozeman and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoffman visited friends and relatives. Miss Delia Kleinblossom and Mr. Earl Schubert of Chicago spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Kleinblossom. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith of Chicago visited with Herman Heimlicks over the week-end. Mrs. Smith was formerly Delpha Heimlich.. Mrs. Bruce Todd attended the St. Luke’s Evangilical and Reformed Church Homecoming at
San Pierre Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. Vander Molen and family attended the graduation exercises of Berta Vander Molen Tuesday. She attended the West Suburban school of nursing. Miss Cleora Stangle of Indianapolis spent the week-end at the home of her brother Mr. Paul Stangle and family. Miss Barbara Stangle of South Bend spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stangle. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred M. LaChapelle of Chicago visited with his sister Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Chappell Jr., recently. Mrs. Simon Groet and Mrs. Ruth Kiersma visited in Kniman Tuesday.
