BOYS AND GIRLS CAN WIN A VICTORY BOND

Roys and girls of Jasper - (anility have an opportunity to win a $25 Victors' Bond in an essay contest sponsored h\ the IMiil Wood Seed Store of Hensselaer. The subject of the Cssay must be some phase of soil conservation. During the week of April 22 to 2!t, the attention of the people of Indiana will be focused on the problem of soil conservation by the proclamation of Governor Italph Cates making this week known as Soil Conservation Week. In keeping with soft conservation week, a $25 Victory Bond is being offered any teen age boy or girl of Jasper County who writes the first prize essay in a contest to close May Ist. All essays are to be iess than 4tlt! words in length and must be turned in to the County Agent’s office by the first of May. The essays will be judged by a committee of three people selected by the county agent. Soil conservation is a large subject and many farming practices are known to help in maintaining or improving soil fertility. Soil erosion, both water and wind erosion, must be prevented by farming practices if farm production is to be maintained. The nutritional value of food and the health of the people in general are greatly influenced by the fertility of the soil. Directly or indirectly everyone is interested in soil conservation.
