Austin, Texas, is believed to b« the only city in the world that is illuminated by "artificial moonlight as well as by street lights.** For many years, it has been floodlighted by the soft blue glow of mercury-vapor lamps installed in clusters atop 29 iron towers which are 14 stories in height and located so that their light is shed over eight square miles of the city.
