NOONDAY LENTEN SERVICE AT RITZ THEATRE. RENSSELAER. GOOD FRIDAY

St. John Luheran congregation has made final preparations for a noonday Lenten service on Good Friday, April lit, from 12 noon till 1 o’clock at the Hit/ Theatre in Rensselaer. Every one is wadconic to attend this devotional hour in commemoration of the day when our Lord Jesus paid the f uII price for the sins of mans kind. The first fifteen minutes will feature organ meditations h.v Mr. John Miller of Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Miller besides being a student for the ministry is also an accomplished musician, having studied on the piano, violin, and the organ. This together with a background in the history and theory of music and composers will lead to an expressive rendition of the following: ‘‘Oh Christ, Thou Art the Beauteous Day” by Johann Sebastian Bach. Two Chorales—“ There Is a Fountain Filled With Blood” by Frederick Reuter. “Just As I Am Without One Plea” by Frederick Reuter. Three settings of “Oh Sacred Head Now Wounded” by Johann Sebastian Bach. “Oh Darkest Woe” composer anonymous. At present Mr. Miller is a student ‘under the assistant concert master of the Chicago Symphony. As a postlude Mr. Miller will play “Crueifixus” from tthe “Mass in B Minor” also by Johann Sebastian Bach. The service proper will be marked with the invocation. Scripture reading, the prayer and the singing by those in attendance of the following hymns: “Savior When In Dust To Thee,” “My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less,” “There Is a Fountain Filled With Blood,” “In the Cross of Christ I dory.” The Reverend 11. 11. Engclbrecht, powerful and successful speaker, many years on the west coast, and of recent years, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church at Gary, Indiana, will deliver the message. His text will be that of Matthew’ Chapter 2(5, verses (53 and (54 and he y“dl speak on the I heme: “I Am Son of God.” The Reveren? ' .1.
