Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peterson are the parents of a baby bov Michael Lynn, born April 4. at the Jasj>cr County Hospital. Last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pter*ma of Chicago spent the day visiting at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. Westerhoff. Mrs. Kenneth Shafer has reeel*, ed word from her husband, ('.apt. Kenneth Shafer, stating that he has recovered from an extended siege of tropical fever, ('.apt. Shafer is in the Central Pacific where he has been stationed for eighteen months. He has been in service for four years. During civilian life he was principal of Wheat field High School. Mrs. Shafer is the Jasper county attendance officer.

Sam McGinnis, Mr*. Fine’s grandmother, and ulso her brother, James Goberly Bnd family. Mrs. Boy Van Dam, Mrs. Frank Zeck, Mrs. Florence Sekema, Mar he I Sekema, Mr*. Tommy Abbring, Mr*. Harry DeYoung, Mrs. Bert Boezeman, and Mr. and Mr*. Art Burke were Gary shoppers Thursday. Mrs. Agnes Fly and Alice Bowen drove to Scoll Field, Illinois, to attend the Army Day program. While there Mrs. Fly 'visited her son, Bill, who is stationed there. They also saw the new pilotless plane perform, and the jet-pro-pelled plane, tin* Sheading Star.
