STATE COMMITTEES UNITE IN FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
Indiana committees are uniting as one in the fight against cancer. April is the month for the drive throughout the state against itian’s No. 2 enemy. This announcement was released by William Ball of Muncie, civic and business leader. In a message to Mrs. Claude Kruzan, who is Jasper County chairman, Mr. Ball stated that 30 of the 92 counties in Indiana are already organized for the campaign. Mr. Ball is chairman of the State committee. The National cancer campaign goal is $12,000,000 and Eric A. Johnston is the chairman. Indiana’s quota is $282,120.00 and each county in the state has a fair share of that quota. Jasper county will do her part for we haven’t failed yet. Jasper county is planning for the next cancer clinic to the local hospital, April 16th, which is the third Tuesday in April. You are asked to make your reservations early for consultation with the county chairman, Mrs. Claude Kruzan, phone 489 White, or at the Hospital desk. Hours will be from 1 to 4. Forty per cent of the money raised in the April campaign will remain in our county for the local clinic work and any other project of benefit to the community covered in the drive. The remainder goes to the state and national committees for research work and followup at Indiana University medical center, a program in which 72 counties were served in 1,45.
Beginner’s day will be held at the local school bouse on Friday, April 19th, from 2 to 3:30. Every child who will be six before Oct. Ist, is invited. Wm. Webb of Rensselaer, candidate for Sheriff on the Republican ticket, was in the village Thursday. Mr. Webb states that his dyties as undersheriff practically make it impossible for him to call on all the voters before primary. But he hopes to get around to see as many of the voters as possible.
