Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Wieren and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Boezeman were in Jndianapolis one day last week. Mrs. Paul Shurman children of El Paso, Illinois visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Grube last week. Four ladies from here went to Chicago last week and donated blood to the Red Cross. Mrs. Ivan Cheever and Mrs. Ely gave their eighth pint, Mrs. Grace Belstra gave her third, and Mrs. Simon Belstra donated for the first time. The Royal Neighbors met at the home of Mrs. Melva Barker, Sr., Monday night. _ ... • Mrs.. Sam Suffern spent the week end at the Janke home. Mrs. Howard Evans left Friday for Abeline, Texas, where she will visit Lt. and Mrs. Jack Evans and son Mike. She was accompanied as far as Oklahoma City by Mrs. Paul Evans. Mrs. Roy Emerson who has been seriously ill the two, weeks is slowly improving. Her daughter, Mrs. Al Burns, of Cedar Lake, and Mrs. Bob Emerson have been taking care of her.. Mrs. Minnie Janke had a pleasant surprise Sunday when her children came to help her celebrate her birthday. " t Mrs. Jennie Evers of Harvey, Illinois is visiting relatves and friends here. About 15 young people from here attended the “Youth For Christ” Rally at Soldiers Field Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Art Lageveen made a business trip to Indianapolis Monday. Mrs. Geo. Valier of New York City visited at the home of her sister Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bauman this week. Neola True, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leighton True, who received a bad fracture at the base of her brain, when she fell from a truck on her way to cut asparagus, was brought to her home Tuesday in the Todd ambulance. Her condition is satisfactory. Marilyn Van Wienen daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van Wienen was returned to her home Wednesday from the Valparaiso hospital. She underwent' a major operation on May 28th. She is improving rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Zylstra and family and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Zylstra and family, gathered at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Zylstra Monday evening and enjoyed a birthday dinner honoring Nick who celebrate his 62 birthday Wednesday, June 6. Bill Longstreth who was recency inducted into the armed services is stationed at Camp Ruckers, Ala.
