Mrs. Mervin Dunn has been quite ill in her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Chas Jasperson and children were Sunday visitors in the home of Mr. and Frs. A. J. Hyatte and son Ira of Francesville. Pfc. Frank and MrsTGrube are the parents of a second son, John Richard, born on May 21 in the Valpo hospital. Nick Bierma has received an honorable discharge from Uncle Sam and is now donning civilian clothes. He and Gertie have purchased the Art Blue tenant house and Nick’s smile will soon be seen back of the counter in the Hardware store. Curtis Parker who is a member of the Merchant Marines is now home a 21 day furlough. Lt. Helen Jagoda of the Nickols General Hospital, Louiseville, Ky., is here on 15 day furlough, then to foreign soil. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Young and family and Mrs. Betty Young of Stockland, 111., were recent visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Davis. The Four and Four Club will meet on Thursday in the home of Frs. J. C. Ladd. Mrs. Ida Marshall of Granville, 111., is visiting her son Harry Marshall and family. The Tefft 4-H Club girls are sponsoring a Bunco party and cake walk on June 5 at 8 p. m. i nthe Tefft school gym. Pfc. John Earl Forbes of the Azore Islands is home for a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ridge. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Heacock of Chicago spent Sunday with their aiint, Emma Burger. The Lucky Dozen Club met with Mrs. Edith Gorman. Prizes won by: Mrs. K. Burke, Mrs. Wm. Grube and Mrs. Lulu Barkhurst. Cecil Myers, son Richard, Wm. Davis and Gertie Neier attended funeral services on Wednesday for James Myers of Riley, Ind. Mrs. Myers passed away the day of the funeral and was buried Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Myers are great uncle and aunt to. Mrs. Jasperson. Mrs. Elmer Ballard is the new hello girl at the Wheatfield switchboard. Pvt. Ralph Robbins has returned to camp following a furlough with home oiks. , Mrs. Frank Jones underwent an appendectomy in the Rensselaer hospital on Wednesday.
