Pilot Sank Yamato
Lt. (jg) William E. Delaney of Detroit, Mich., navy carrier pilot who jtombed and sank the Jap super battleship Yamato. Delaney zoomed down and at 1,400 feet dropped four 500-pound bombs on the huge Jap warship, all of which were direct hits. Lieutenant Delaney was rescued by another plane after his own ship caught fire.
