Mrs. C. Van Schouwen and her mother, Mrs. Vander Meydon, and Rev. Van Schouwen’s mother and sister stopped here Monday afternoon on their way from Rensselaer after visiting Mrs. J. Boender and infant daughter at the Rensselaer hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Bier ma of Oak Park visited from Friday to Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Felthouse. Mrs. Felthouse returned to Oak Park with them for a few days visit. Mr. and Mrs. J. B Cox of Syracuse. Ind., visited at the Howard Evans home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Strack and son visited at the John Akers home Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zeck are spending this week end in Chicago Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Molenhouse and family of Chicago were week end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schaefer. Mrs. Ed Deßruin was taken to the Rensselaer hospital Monday afternoon for observation. Henry DeKock son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeKock suffered a fainting spell while attending church services Sunday morning. He was rushed to Rensselaer, not regaining consciousness, until almost to Rensselaer. He apparently is alright but tests are being taken to ascertain the cause. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stangle and daughter spent Sunday in Logansport at the home of Mrs. Stangle’s parents, where a family dinner was held honoring Mrs. Stangle’s parents who were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, and Mr. Stangle’s parents who celebrated their 45th w r edding anniversary. . ■ A 74 pound pumpkin was grown on the Fred Moolenaar place this year. We are wondering if this is a record and would like to hear from anyone who can beat this record. Friends of Staff Sgt. Virgil Galbreath of Wahnata w’ill be interested to learn that he has returned to the states after two and one half years over seas. He was in the African, Tunisian and Sicilian campaigns. Mrs. Melvin Kelly has received word that her nephew, Sgt. LeRoy Kelly of Mishawaka was injured Sept. 29 while fighting with the armored division, taking part in the invasion of Germany. Sgt. Kelly has two brothers in service. Sgt. Wayne Kelly in the South Pacific and Cpl Donald Kelly, a member of the 15th Army Air Force in Italy. Week end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Frame were Mrs. Emily Malenovick and
Miss Albertine Borman of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Smith ' and family of Wheatfield and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Struble of Gary. Mrs. Walter Huhn and son Richard spent the past week at the Harry Huhn home. Mrs. N ?il Westerhoff visited her father and sister in Chicago last week. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Grube spent the week end with their son and family in DeKalb, 111. —e : Mr. and Mvs. Kenneth Burton and son of Chicago were week end guests at the Herman Heimliclis*. \ aughn Green of Kniman is home on furoulgh. About twenty members from the American and First Reformed churches of DeMotte attended .a banquet at the Roseland 107th St. church Tuesday evening. Dr. Drukker was the speaker of the evening using as his subject “Schools and Missions in Kentucky.”
