After the lights went out, several people noticed the disappearance of Mildred B. and Ray M. Mysterious, isn’t it. By-the-way. who took Alice M. home. He has a black Chevrolet Dick H. was with Josephine S. again the other night. Can “Supedwolf” be getting serious? And was’nt Biddy with Bernie M.. again ? Did you notice all of the kids running around after initiation? Among them were Kathleen S. and Bushy—also Melvin K. and Thelma D.F. Evelyn 0.. where did we see you? Why didn’t Mr. Stucker come to the initiation? Since he didn’t come to the initiation, the initiation came to him. Understand what we mean, Mr. Stucker? What was Margaret S. doing in Cal Swart’s car Sunday night? I wouldn’t know, would you? Art L. Spends a lot of time talking to Irene M. when he is supposed to be studying— this looks bad, Art. Arnold S. had three girls Sunday night. Say. Arnold, how do you rate? Pretty good, it seems. Yell Leaders— The students of DeMotte High School elected yeti leaders Friday morning. It was a close race. In fact, it was so close we are going to have two teams. Biddy Wright, Shirley Hart, and Evelyn Osting will yell at all games, while Barbara Stangle, Virgina Mak, and Alice Rowen will yell at tournaments and all home games. Let’s all get in and help them when they lead their yells. Senior News— Marilyn Sekema is in the Rensselaer hospital. She is there for an appendectomy. We are sorry that she is ill, and hope she will be back soon. First Grade News Week before last we published the narmes of the boys in our room. We haven’t forgotten our girls. Here are their names: Rose Marie Bakker, Mildred Coberly, Myrle Frances Coffer, Charmaine DeFries, Joan DeYoung, Edith Dunham, Barbara Groet, Marlene Hanstra. Carolyn Hoffman, Gladys Jones, Frances Kingma, Carol Kooy, Nancy McCoy, Mona Nannega, Elaine Wiers, Shirley Williams, Marcella Justin, and Marilyn Van Wiennen. We are making a Library corner in our room. The boys made chairs from orange crates. The girls are to paint them. We will enjoy reading and looking at the books in our library. Second Grade— We were weighed and measured this week so we can start our “Grow” chart. Loma Hanenberg has been absent for several days and we are sorry she is sick. We brought money to buy some things for her. Billy, Bobby and Alice have
had birthdays since our last news. The twins are now eight years old and Alice is seven. ... ’ Grade— We were very happy that Mrs. Mosier could be our teacher last week. Barbara Rowen was our eacher this week Monday. Thank you Mrs. Mosier and Barbara. Marilyn Kingma and Jane Zeck brought their dolls to school to play with at recess time because it looked like it was going to be a rainy day It’s nice to have a piano in our room. Now we can sing better and we do every morning. We are going to have a “Room Mother?’’ Maybe we can tell you all about it next week. Robert Lee Schlarp’s arm slipped between the bars of his seat back and we had a big job trying to get the elbow out of it again. Magazine Sales End The magazine sales campaign ended last Tuesday morning, Oct. 3, with the gross sales $317.00. The girls sold a total of $169.50 and the boys trailed with $147.50. The high sales girl was Marylin Sauer with $28.50 and the high sales man was Dick Kelly with $23.00. Various other prizes will be given to all others who sold any magazines. This total of $317.00 is the greatest amount sold by the students during any other year. Fourth Grade News Robert Swanson enrolled in our class last Monday. Robert came from Chicago. Patricia Gorbet brought a flower to school. Those who have not been absent in our room for the first month of school are; Patricia Gorbert, Phyllis Stuenenburg, Dorothy Wilks, Wilma Hoffman, Marian Belstra. Patsy Charnow rski. Harold Willis, Marilyn Schoonveld, Robert H., John DeKock, Jean Gravenstock, John Bates, Laura Mae Evers, Frankie Gross, Neola Ann True. Smith Bailey, Leonard Smith and Dickie Van Meerten. Fifth Grade News Doris Coberly celebrated her birthday Tuesday, Oct. 2. The boys and girls are happy to have some play ground equipment to use. The boys are playing some nice games of softball.
