Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Grube and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayes spent the week end at El Paso, Illinois at the home of the former's daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shurman. Miss Helen Zeck is employed as bookkeeper, at the DeMotte Feed Store. Mr. Bass, who was bookkeeper has accepted a position with Indiana Steel at Valparaiso. Mrs. Chas. Jasperson, KVP news correspondent at Wheatfield, is home after being confined to the hospital since Sept. 6. Lt. and Mrs. H. C. Van Eck of Sioux City, lowa spent the week end with her parents. Mr and Mrs. Cornelius Mak. Miss Mildred and Edith Tysen visited over the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Fleming in Chicago. Mr. John Schaefer of Chicago visited from Wednesday to Sunday at the home of his son, Geo. Schaefer. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schaefer and family returned with him Sunday and visited other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer LaChapelle and daughter Miss Loretta Jensen and Sgt. Elmer LaChapelle, Jr., of Chicago spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Chappell, Jr. To those who have been wondering and asking—the lovely and talented young lady who sang at the Barn Dance at Kearney’s Farm Sept. 21st is Phillis Whitaker of Fair Oaks, now employed in DeMotte.
