How To Prepare Christmas Gifts For Overseas

Washington Christmas gifts for overseas service people should be packed in metal, wood, solid fibreboard, or strong double faced corrugated fibreboard, army and navy postal services advised today. Strong twine around the boxes and tight packing of the contents will insure your service man and woman a better Christmas gift, the experts said. Other Advise: Protect every sharp instrument such as a knife, or razor blades, by careful wrapping. Use “inner boxes” for all hard candies, nuts, caramels, fruit cakes and chocolate bars. They also should be of wood, metal or cardboard to give the folks overseas a real treat, they advised. Forget the soft candies entirely. Label the package “Christmas parcel” and see that it weighs not more than five paunds and is not over 15 inches long. Mailing dates are Sept. 15 to Oct, 15.
