Mr. and Mrs. Charles Curtin, who left here last week for Tomahawk, Wise., on their annual two weeks fishing trip report good fishing and cool weather, 33 degrees. Miss Evelyn Osting and Miss Freda Mae Cheever were week end visitors in Chicago. Miss Minnie Janke donated a furnace to the new Methodist parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. Henry DeKock, Jr., are vacationing at Winona Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gibbs, son Jimmy of Gary and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fisher of Lowell spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Evans. Miss Jennie Nannenga employed in Chicago was home over the week end. Miss Janet Bohnenberger of Chicago is visiting at the home of her aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Boezeman. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bloom and Mrs. Bertho Brand were visitors at the Henry Fink Farm last week. Mrs. Bert Boezeman visited her sister Mrs. Bohnenberger in Chicago last Tursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krueger were in Chicago one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Suffern and Chief Petty Officer and Mrs. Geo. Suffern were week end guests at the home of Minnie Janke. Recent visitors at the M. Janke home were her sister and neice of Cleveland, Ohio. Miss Joan Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Watson is visiting the Misses Alice and Barbara Rowen. Mrs. 0. P. Rowen and son Jim visited Mrs. Newt Williams and son Bob Cox this week. Hank Swart, who is on vacation from his duties at the Bank and Pop Rowen were fishing in Michigan Tuesday. Miss Barbara Stangle visited from Sunday till Tuesday with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cook at Logansport. The grandparents returned with her Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Henrichs and mother, Mrs. Ida Strack were in Chicago on business Monday. At a recent meeting of the Youth Fellowship of the Kniman Methodist Church election of officers w’as held. Norman Chappell was elected President, Edward Goetz, Vice-President; Mary Meyers, Secretary and Delores Dionne, Treasurer. Mrs. M. E. Starzer is Superintendent of the Sunday School.
Rev. Archibald is attending the School Of The Prophets, being held at Purdue this week. r ,Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeKock and family visited in Lafayette Friday at the Rich Van Burens. Mrs. Sue Meyers, Mrs. Mary Van Wicker and Miss Louise Atterdohl of Chicago were Sunday visitors at the H. Ostings. Mrs. Richard Molenhouse and children who have been visiting for the past two weeks at the Ostings returned to their home in Chicago Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Hanenburg have returned from Grand Rapids Michigan where they wen;L to see Mr.. Hanenberg’s sister ahd family who recently were in an auto accident. His sister, the only one who was seriously injured is still in the hospital suffering from facial injuries, a crushed jaw and neck injuries. The others in the accident received slight cuts and body bruises.
Last Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boissy were hosts to the master minds of the Chicago Bears Football Champions of the professional league for the season closing in 1943. Coaches “Paddy” Driscoll, “Hunk” Anderson, “Luke” Johnsos and Carl Brumbaugh, together with “Eddie” Prell covering the drills for the Chicago Tribune sponsors of the game. The Bears are in training at St. Joseph’s College for their game with the College All-Stars to be played Wednesday evening, August 30, at Dyche Stadium (Northwestern University) Evanston, Illinois. Mrs. Ted Watson and son Edward of Matteson, 111., called on friends in town Friday. Mrs. N. Williams and son Bob Cox of Walkerton, Ind., spent the week end with Mrs. Carrie Konovsky. Mr. Williams joined thenr Sunday. ,
