DeMotte P.T.A. Holds Religious Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the P.T.A. was held Tuesday evening at the school house. The meeting was opened by singing “Onward Christian Soldiers” in keeping with the Theme of the meeting .which was “Religion.” The speaker of the evening was Prof. Linbeck of Valparaiso University who gave an interesting talk on “Relation of Religion to the Common School.” There was a representative from each of the three groups who hold bible classes in the school each Wednesday. Officers for the coming year were elected as follows: Mrs. C.D. Chappell, Pres., Mr. Heimlich, VicePres., Mrs. Kelly, Sec., and Mrs. Maurice Cheever, Treas. The P.T.A. will again sponsor the immunizing program, with Mrs. Frances Erwin in charge. Ways and means of furnishing entertainment in DeMotte to keep the young people in town rather than having them going to neighboring towns was discussed with the hope that some kind of interesting entertainment could be found. The girl chorus sang four numbers. The fifth frade Mothers were hostesses, and the ninth grade won the attendance banner. The next meeting will be April 11, at wliich time the High School will hold an oratory contest. There was a good attendance at Tuesday’s meeting. Let’s make the April 11 meeting even better.
