DEMOTTE PTA THREE YEARS OLD

The DeMotte Parent Teacher Association was organized February 11, 1941. Are you wondering if this organization has been worth while in our community? Before you pass judgment, suppose we review the record of this organization for the past three years. A total of twenty regular meetings have" been held, at which those who attended had an opportunity to discuss problems concerning our school. They also heard seventeen speeches on various topics, and saw nine reels of educational films. Special entertainment was provided at each meeting by our school classes or “individuals. At the beginning of each school term the new teachers were introducted to those present. The High School Service Flag was appropriately dedicated at one of our meetings. Two successful * Hobby Shows were sponsored. Summer Roundup health programs and a two Immunization programs were sponsored, and an active part taken in the Infantile Paralysis drives. Since May 1942 the local P.T.A. has sponsored the local Boy Scout Troop, whose membership is growing daily. This organization also made contributions toward fbe purchase of the following items for the school: refrigerator for the Home Economics Dept., a large flag for the gym, a program clock and new chairs, $25.00 for the Boy Scouts. Most of the above projects were sponsored by the P.T.A. • Three years ago, a group of our community-minded neighbors organized the local P 4 T.A.: — to promote the welfare of children and youth in the home, school, church and community. To bring into closer relation the home and the school that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of the child. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education. The opportunity to accomplish this had been made possible by this organization. It is a parent teacher association. Our teachers have been active, faithful members. Have YOU, as a parent, done your part ? The next regular meeting will C“> be held on Tuesday, March 14th, at 8 P.M. This meeting should be of vital interest to every parent in this community.
