PAYROLL SAVINGS PLAN TOTALS 238

Jasper county’s record of participation in the Payroll Savings Plan shows a total of 238 employed persons enrolled in the plan with 84 of these workers saving aside ten per cent or more of their pay for War Bonds, Phil Wood, executive chairman of the Jasper county War Savings staff announced today. Hoosiers are taking the lead in the nation’s war financing program and the state’s record to January 2, 1943 shows 8500 firms with employees participating in pay-day by-pay day bond deductions. f In the Honor Column are 3355 firms whose employees are saving ten percent or more of their pay. Nearly 700,000 employed people in Indiana are saving regularly for War Bonds and of this number 382,000 are Ten Percenters, Charles E. Hover, deputy administrator, in charge of the Payroll Savings Drive announced today. In firms which are participating in the War Bond Program 238'employees are saving regularly while 22 employees in the same firms have not begiin their saving program. While the figure today is considerably higher, the January 2 report showed 84 employed people in the county signed for ten per cent or more pf gross pay. “The local drive to enroll all who work in the Payroll Savings plan be continued energetically until all firms in this community, regardless of size, have adopted or refused to adopt the plan,” said H. B. Tuteur, chairman of the Payroll Savings Committe of the local War Savings Staff.
