JENNENS TO SPEAK HERE AGAIN FEB. 8

The DeMotte Evening Poultry class will have the good fortune of again hearing Mr. Thomas Jennens at the regular February 8 class session. Mr. Jennens, those of us will remember who heard him at the opening session of the class on January 5, has had many years experience in the field of poultry feeding, sanitation and diseases and at this meeting expects to speak on the topic “Some Baby Chick diseases, their symptoms, treatment and prevention,” after which he will s give another of his excellent post mortem demonstrations —this time on baby chicks. A special item will be awarding of attendance prizes, of which there will be several valuable ones. The fourth regular class meeting was held last Monday evening, at which the largest attendance yet recorded was present. A number of new members were added to the roll. Mrs. McEachern and Mr. Fultz, who were to talk, notified the class at the last moment, that they were unable to get here. The Agricultural teacher, Ka lph Wurzburger, showed a movie film in color, entitled “Seventh World’s Poultry Congress” after which the topic of “Brooder Houses and Brooding Equipment” was studied and discussed. Many points about the size, location, sanitation and convenience of the houses, as well as kinds of various equipment, w T ere discussed. The class secretary, Mrs. Helen Melchert, was absent due to illness but it is hoped she will be able to come out for the next meeting. The increasing attendance of ladies at the classes is especially encouraging, however, this is as it should be, since figures show' that it is often the farmers wife or daughters who have charge of the flock* The class enjoyed coffee and doughnuts after the meeting, served by tw’o very capable Home Economics students, the Misses Freda Mae Cheever and Alice Rowen, w r hom we wish to thank for their help. Monday's s meet in promises to be a hum dinger, so plan to be present early.
