BOB LUND MADE MEMBER OF AMERICAN LEGION
Bob Lund. 18 year old son of Mrs. Bert Boezeman, last week became a member of the American Legion—making him the first veteran of World War No. 12 —in the Dewey Biggs Post Bob enlisted in the Marines last Reptember 8. and was sent to San Diego, California, but was recently given a medical discharge, due to migraine headaches, which made him unsuitable for constant service. Bob. a graduate of the DeMotte high school, has a brother, Clarence, in service, stationed at Camp Atterbury, and a brother, John, on war construction in Alaska. Dickie Van Meerten narrowly escaped serious injury last Thursday when a truck, driven by Albert Belstra, son of Simon Belstra. backed into him knockhim down. and pinching his leg between the dual wheels. The youngster was watching a train go through town and did not see the truck, which backed away from DeKock’s Supply Co. He immediately was taken to Dr. Leeson’s office, where his injuries were found to consist of a ent lip and leg bruises.
