TEN THOUSAND ROAD WORKERS IN TRAINING

A statewide organization of approximately ten thousand state, county and city road ami street workers is being traineel for emergency duty in main taining traffic arteries in the* event of air raids, sabotage* or other destruction of roads and Special training in emergency repairs of roads ami bridges is being given all stale high way employees in a series of meetings at the* thirty-six of flees. These sessions, being attended by representatives of county highway ami city street departments, include* both class room ami field instruct iem. The* State* Highway Commission has been cooperating actively with the* State* Council of Civilian Defense* in this program, furnishing engineers as instructors tor district meetings and holding training sessions in the* field offices. 'Die* program is being directed by Mr. Earl Cassidy, a member of the Commission's staff of engineers.
