The sermon text for next Sunday is John 1:19-28, the sermon topic, The Unknown Christ. John the Baptist did not speak to Gentiles, but to the priests, levites and pharisees of his day. They had Moses and the Prophets and knew the Scriptures full well. And yet they did not know Him whom God had promised and who was now in their midst. Do we know Christ as we should? So many do not know Him, even withi n the bounds of the Church. All those who do not believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, nor believe that He is the one and only Savior of the world, but see in Him a model man only, a perfect example of life to imitate a nd emulate, do not know Christ. The more we follow direction of John the Baptist and behold in Him the one for whom John prepared the way; and the more diligently we seek to learn of Him in the holy Gospel.'the better we will know, Him, the more firm we will become in our faith, the more sure we will be of our ultimate salvation. Let us learn to know Him better and better.
