Mrs. Grace Grunwald spent Saturday afternoon and evening in "Rensselaer with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moning. Carl Riehiger, employee' in the ' Ford pl&nt near Hammond, had a piece of steel fly into his eye while St work last Thursday. He was taken . to St. Luke’s hospital where it was found necessary to operate to remove the steel, he came home Monday night, Mr. Richiger is still under the Doctor’s care. Walter Bunning drove him to Chicago Wednesday for a check-up. Mrs. -Wm, Ely entertained the bridge club Tuesday evening. 1 Mrs. Fern Bauman spent Monday in South Bend on business. Mrs Fred Hoffman and Mildred spent last Thursday in Gary. Henry Gilmore was kicked by a horse at the Eplcy sale Wednesday afternoon and received a broken leg:. He wa? taken to the hospital at Rensselaer.
Mrs. S. B. Vinicour fell last week and injured her left knee so severely that she was forced to remain in bed over the week-end. Plans she had made to visit in Chicago, accompanied by her son, had to be postponed. Hank DeKock, Jr., entertained at a farewell supper in honor of Tommy Abbrihg last night. There were 12 present to wish God-speed to the departing guardsman. Tommy, with five more local boys, leaves the 17th, and after spending 8 days in Rensselaer will propped to Mississippi for his year’s active National Guard duty. Accompanying him are Fred Schwanke, Perry Coberly, Wally Borman, Dick Wade, and Lester Raska. Be sure to see the 1941 Philco Refrigerators at Wm. Swart & Co. Store Mrs. Lizzie Tanner is spending several weeks with her daughter arid and family of Highland, 111. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Sargent and family visited at Lctland, 111., with his brother and family.
