I Mr. William DeFries of Thayer recently purchased the small farm ol‘ Mr. Bos,s which is located about a half mile east of Thayer. Robert Boswinkle Jr., who is now attending Purdue University, visited with his grandmother, who lives in Thayer. Mr. arid Mrs. Rolason of near Lake Village, were visitors with Mr. am: Mrs. H. Hockney last week. Mr. Nick Sudekes of Thayer ha i recently purchased a brand new second-hand car. j Dr. W. W. Tate is sporting a new j Buick eight coupe.

Midnight Mass will be held Xmas Eve, (Tuesday night) at the new Catholic Church at Shelby. Mass will also be held Xmas morning. According to recent reports, Mr. Smith, of Kankakee, plans to complete the oil well on Mr. Boyle’s land in the near future. A penochle and bunco party for the benefit x of the Shelby Catholic church will be given at the Shelby School gym at 8:00 p. m. on Friday evening , Jan. 3, 1941. Everyone is invited to come. Door prizes will be given. The Thayer school gave a Christmas program last Friday afternoon. The program was enjoyed by all who attended.
