The Longmell Dairy herd has been tested for Bang Disease last week. Mr. Ralph Whitehead, who was badly injured, when his truck went into the ditch, a half mile west of town a few’'days ago, is getting along nicely. Mr Ellison Williams, who fractured three of his ribs a few weeks ago, was taken to a Lafayette hospital Tuesday for an examination. We akn owl edge the receipt of the Syracuse-W.awasee Journal, edited and published by Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cox, formerly of DeMotte. The paper is a newsy one, with all of the special features that goes with a first class county paper. Thanks. The new Pentacostal church is hearing completion. In a very few days it will be ready for dedication. Mrs. Beatrice Jensen, who has been a business caller here for th« past few days returned to Ann Arbor, Mich.. Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. David Yeoman and a couple of their relatives departed for California Wednesday morning via auto. They intend to be gone about thirty days and have a look at a large number of the scenic points in the great west.
Adam Smith of Wheatfield township, who won the county husking contest last year will defend his title at the coming contest, Oct. 19. Mr. Smith is one of the popular farmers and has here a host of well wishers. v ' A large number of relatives gave Isacc Knapp a birthday surprise party last Sunday. To say that he was surprised is putting it mildly. He claims to be a little past twenty-two. Mr. Charles Overmyer, who recently purchased the stock of the Langdon store, has sold it to a gentleman who took it over Wednesday. Mr. Omer Darner and Ray Maxwell are working in Gary, Ind. Mr. Walter Hoetm and Grover Smith, who attended the Grand Lodge gives you a good idea of Odd Fellowship and the type of men who are behind it.
When you are in Rensselaer, call at the County Supt. office and see the county library and learn how it operates. It is surely a great help to the grade students of the county by giving them access to a larger amount of suplementary reading, right in line with their regular work. We mish to extend to the relatives of the late Mrs. Hayes, our sympathy. Living here for a large number of years, she surrounded herself with a large circle of friends, who will miss her.
