JOHN CUNNINGHAM OF NEWLAND, SLASHED DURING BRAWL

A liquor stimulated brawl in a Newland sector Saturday night resulted in the near-fatal slashing of John Cunningham, 44-year-old farm worker. He received numerous stab wounds in hjis back, sides and arms from a knife wielded by Ray Wright, who claims self-defense as his motive. Wilmer Wright, brother of the knife-wielding onion field worker, and Orville Rowe are being held for investigation.
