The juniors and sophomores had a skating party at the local rink on Tuesday evening. Miss Angie DeHaan, teacher at Highland spent Saturday at the home of her parents. Mr. John Blom and John, Jr., of Cincinatti, spent Sunday here at Cy Rowen’s home. Mrs. John Blum, Sr., who has been visiting here returned home with them. Mrs. John Jr. and children will remafh for a few more days. Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Pegman of Chicago visited Saturday at the Frank DeHaan home. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Taylor and Mrs. Ludwic of Lima, Ohio, spent the week-end at Fairchild Hill. Miss Sadie Fairchild stayed with Mrs. Ludwic 20 years ago when she lived in Lima, and this is the first time the ladies have seen each other since. Miss Helen Zeck is now employed in Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Art Lagaveen and daughter Lois made a trip to Chicago Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Tuesley arufc daughter Jacquline spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bauman. The students from the Fair Oaks school held a skating party at the Evans rink Monday evening. “Pop” Rowen gave a skating party for his employees and their families Saturday night. There were about fifty present and a pleasant evening was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scholz, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Koon of LaPorte spent Sunday afternoon and evening with the Rowen and Heimlich families.

Clarence Zylstra spent 3 days in Fort Wayne attending a school held by Purina Mills in which poultry diseases were studied. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Barker and Mrs. Vera Case w r ere guests at the Melvie Barker home Thursday night. The September meeting of the Frame-Summers birthday club was held at the home of Mrs. George Summers in Hammond last Friday. The Royal Neighbors will meet at the home of Mrs. Lizzie Tanner, Monday evening at 7 o’clock. All members please be present. Mrs. Fred Hoffman and Mildred were in Gary Tuesday, shopping. Mrs. Elsie Slocum from West! Lafayette visited her daughter, Miss Virginia, over the week-end. Ralph Myers is driving a new Chevrolet car. Mr. Cornelius Sekema and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Walstra have traded residences. Mr. Sekema living where Mr. and Mrs. Walstra lived and the WalStras moving to the house vacated Jby Mr. Sekema. Miss Martha Keever, music teacher at the High School, spent the week end in Chicago. Coach Charles Ruch’s brother was his guest this week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frame and Shannon were Sunday guests of Clyde Story and family. Harry Krashen spent the week-end in Chicago with his friend, Ralph Cramer. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sipkema were shopping in Gary Saturday. Mr. and Mr. Herb Nine spent Sunday in Hammond.
