DeMotte Resident Buried Monday
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Tanis Kooy who passed away at the hospital in Rensselaer Friday evening. Mrs. Kooy was 53 years of age and had been ill for about two months. She was bom in Chicago, 111., May 17, 1887, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Tanis. Mr. and Mrs. Kooy were mairied in Munster, Ind. on July 25, 1907 and resided there until about twenty-one years ago when they made their home on a farm near DeMotte. Mrs. Kooy was buried in the Holland Cemetery in DeMotte, with the Rev. Stunenberg officiating at the services. She is survived by her husband, Gerbrand Kooy, children Elsie Zylstra, Mable Hunter, Laura Kooy, Geneveive Kooy, Cordelia Kooy, of DeMotte, Leona Benema of Roselawn, and Ruth Knynsberg of Lansing, 111., and 10 grandchildren. A son, Raymond, preceded his mother in death. Mrs. Kooy was. a member of the American Reformed Church, and will be grieved by her family and many friends.
