RATE REDUCTION FILED BY PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY

In keeping with the Company's policy of reducing rates whenever possible, Mr. Dean H. Mitchell announced Wednesday a reduction of $150,000 a year to residential and commercial electric customers of the Northern Indiana Public Service Co. The new and lower residential and commercial electric rate schedules were voluntarily filed Wednesday, June 5, with the Public Service Commission of Indiana. According to Mr. Mitchell, president of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company, the proposed new lowered rates are com-pany-wide and give savings of approximately $150,000 annually to residential and commercial eletric customers of tie company. When the new rate schedules are approved by the Public Service Commission, they will beeomt effective in all electric properties of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company for bills rendered on meters read on and after July 1, 1940. This general reduction m electric rates is in keeping with the Company’s policy of reducing rates whenever it is possible to do so. This/ reduction is one of a series of \4luntary reductions made under the present management during the past six years, effecting savings to electric customers of Northern Indiana Public Service Company in the aggregate amount of $682,000 annually.
